Church of Nossa Senhora da Graça Analog Photo Tile

Praia Do Almoxarife, Faial Azores (Portugal)
2016

When I visited the Island of Faial back in 2014 (my second trip) I had already been shooting film for a couple of years. I decided that I would challenge myself to capturing the beauty of the island by using a technique of taking long exposure photos during the day by using a neutral density filter (very dark filter). This was one of those shots, and one of my favorite photos to come from the trip! The technique to achieve this print on wood was completely analog and done in my darkroom on a small piece of silver gelatin coated marine grade plywood, developed in standard b/w chemistry and coated in a heavy layer of crystal clear resin.
